So, Nutella is turning 50 this year. It always amazes me, that nutella and toast is considered part of a healthy breakfast. Don't get me wrong, I am not casting any doubt on that belief. Nonetheless, Nutella has somehow done a wonderful job marketing their brand to appeal to all ages worldwide, as a luxurious, delicious, yet healthy part of our life. Genius.
Last year some 365 million kilos were consumed - roughly the weight of the Empire State Building - in 160 countries around the world. Half a century ago, in a small town in northern Italy, this would have been unimaginable. For a little history of Nutella and it's founders, read this article. Last month, we were in Laos and Thailand for vacation, and were amazed to find Nutella on the shelves of every market, even the small market in Northern Laos that only sold 10 items!!
